Employee Compensation Adjustments

We needed some good news in 2020 and CM Jamie Davidson delivered it on Wednesday, Sept. 30th.

Good Afternoon,

Just a brief note to advise all employees that during last evening’s city council meeting, Mayor Brunst and Members of the City Council approved an amendment to the city’s FY 2021 budget and associated compensation program for full-time and part-time benefitedย employees, effective with the first full pay period in October.
For general employees throughout the city, last night’s action authorizes a 3 percent merit increase for employees who meet performance expectations.ย  For sworn firefighters and police officers and associated supervisors, the amendment establishes a “hybrid” step program based on the attached police and fire schedules.
As the city continues to grapple with COVID-19, I extend appreciation to the mayor and city councilย for their continued commitment to a market competitive compensation program.ย  I also extend appreciation to our Human Resource staff, Keri Rugg, Amy Peterson and Scott Swift, for their tireless efforts in making these changes a reality.
Thanks for your hard work and dedication.ย  If you have specific questions about what I have shared, I would invite you to contact HR Manager Keri Rugg.ย  She can be reached at 801-229-7164 or email atย karugg@orem.org.
Have a great afternoon.ย  Stay safe and healthy!
Jamie
