COVID-19 Information for Employees

The Coronavirus may be small, but it is sure making a big impact.

The following was issued as a high priority message from Keri Rugg, HR Division Manager:

All,

With the Coronavirus coming our way, we want you to be aware of what we are doing as a City to be prepared. Facility personnel have been extra mindful with disinfecting touchpoint areas such as door handles, bathroom stalls, faucets and such. If you have a large gathering or someone comes into your area that you suspect may be ill, please call facilities and they will come and disinfect.

If you present symptoms of the virus, please do not come into work. Follow our sick leave policy found here.

We are staying up to date with the most accurate information and will provide information to you as it comes available. Should changes need to be made to work schedules or events, we will get that information out to you as soon as possible.

The following was issued by Heath Stevenson, Orem Emergency Manager:

City of Orem’s Role During the Coronavirus Outbreak

As a city, our role is to support the local, county, state and federal agencies directly tasked with managing and communicating to the public regarding the Coronavirus outbreak. We will continue to share the relevant information we receive from those agencies to help spread the word. In general, the best advice is to stay calm, wash your hands, avoid touching your face and stay up-to-date with timely, accurate information. Our top priority is the health and well-being of our employees and citizens.

The State of Utah has created a comprehensive, up-to-date website with all of the latest information necessary to best protect yourselves and your families. Please visit:

This website and social media account includes:

  • Tips to protect yourself; Recommendations for health care providers; Local resources;
  • Frequently Asked Questions; Minute-to-minute social updates from relevant agencies;
  • Updates from the CDC; and Recovery and outbreak announcements.

The Coronavirus outbreak is an opportunity for us to review our policies for relevant topics, such as, time-off, sick leave, or work-from-home that may be required or recommended to prevent spreading an illness. In addition, we are continuing to improve our disaster readiness by working with directors to relay timely and consistent information and continuing to share Coronavirus updates through our City communications channels, including Social Media Accounts.
