The Ghost of the SCERA: Eleanor Michaels

The Tale of Eleanor Michaels – Ghost of the SCERA

It was the winter of 1945 and Eleanor Michaels had been working for the SCERA theater for the past five years. She was getting ready for work one night for the next day. She placed her clothes on her chair near her bed and went into the bathroom and brushed her teeth and then climbed into bed. She woke up at five to start getting ready for work to be at the Scera by six. Suddenly a bright white light flashed through her bedroom window along with the sound of thunder. Once again the bright white light flashed and a bolt of lightning hit her square in the chest. Her body fell to the floor. Instantly dead. Her spirit, not knowing what had happened, left for the Scera like she always did for work each morning.

One Wednesday morning, a young girl was walking through the basement when she noticed a middle-aged lady cleaning with a bluish glow surrounding her. Walking closer she observed that it was Eleanor. As she stood within a foot of Eleanor, Eleanor opened her mouth and let out an ear splitting shriek and yelled, “This is not a place for you to be, get out of my sight now.” The lights started to flicker and glitch. The young girl ran out crying and barely made it back upstairs, shaking uncontrollably.

Two months later, around Christmas time, SCERA volunteers started decorating for the holidays. Holiday music started to play everywhere and the staff did not know that Eleanor hated Christmas. One afternoon a young man from the staff was heading down towards the basement whistling Christmas songs to get more holiday decorations. Suddenly he could only see a glowing blue light and heard a faint and eerie song which called him by name and said that he soon would be dead if he continued on. Then he saw Eleanor singing this creepy song. She would suddenly stop singing and repeat that she hates Christmas. He wisely decided not to continue any further. This man still claims to this day that he saw and heard Eleanor.
