Day of Caring – 2024

Once again this year, the capstone event at the end of our Employee Giving Campaign will be the United Way Day of Caring, held on Thursday, September 12th from 8:30am to Noon. 

Here are the projects for this year:

  • Welcome Baby Kits / Tabitha’s Way – 
    • Welcome Baby Kits – Work at your own desk:  These kits help young children develop motor skills and practice basic learning functions to keep their physical and mental development on track.
      • 25 or more volunteers needed
    • Tabitha’s Way Kits – Standard hygiene kits for those in need
      • Hygiene kits will be assembled in the City Council Conference Room.
      • 10 volunteers needed
    • Contact Lori Criman or Jon Ditto with any questions about this project
  • Reading and STEAM Activities at Parkside Elementary
    • Conducting age-appropriate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) activities with elementary school students.
    • 44 volunteers needed

  • Senior Home Project
    • Pulling weeds, lawn work, and landscaping to help an Orem Senior citizen
    • 5 volunteers needed

  • Paint the Playground Blacktop at Cherry Hill Elementary
    • Playground painting games
    • 15 Volunteers needed
    • Contact Glenn Giles with any questions
  • Paint the Playground Blacktop at Windsor Elementary
    • Playground painting games 
    • 15 Volunteers needed
    • Contact Laura Bascom with any questions
  • Scera Pool Winterization:
    • Assisting the Recreation Department to disassemble and store items at the Scera pool after the season is over.
    • 15 volunteers needed

  • Habitat for Humanity Re-Store:
    • Help Orem’s very own Habitat for Humanity Re-Store with inventory, cleaning, and organizing
    • 25 volunteers needed
