As many of you know, yesterday afternoon our City Manager and friend Jamie Davidson submitted his resignation to the City Council. We are filled with gratitude for all that he did and accomplished in his 12 years at the City of Orem and we know that his friendship, example, and commitment will always be part of our lives. Jamie was always quick to recognize and credit the professional excellence of the City of Orem staff. We know he is concerned about everyone and wants more than anything for us to feel hopeful and ready to continue the excellent work that he was always so impressed with during his tenure.
Right after last night’s City Council Meeting, Brenn Bybee had the opportunity to speak with Mayor Young at length. In a genuine and constructive show of trust, Mayor Young has asked Brenn Bybee, Assistant City Manager, to be the Acting City Manager at this time. The Mayor and Council understand that this is a challenging time of change for staff. They appreciate our work and recognize that the City of Orem is an incredible organization because of your contributions. Mayor Young emphasized and reiterated his and the Council’s trust and confidence in staff to continue forward in serving our wonderful Orem community.
Our Mayor and Council are committed to communicating with staff and further building our relationships with them moving forward. We know we have jointly made significant strides on a number of critical operational efforts and large capital projects over the course of just the last 12 months. We hope everyone will join us in supporting our Mayor and Council today and moving forward so that these same successes will continue.
