Day of Caring Projects – 2023

Once again this year, the capstone event at the end of our Employee Giving Campaign will be the United Way Day of Caring, held on Thursday, September 14th from 8:30am to Noon. I’m hoping we will each continue to take advantage of this opportunity to serve our community in a different capacity during work time! The following lists the projects we have planned:
  • Work at your own desk:
    • Welcome Baby is a United Way program that provides prenatal and early childhood support to low-income families. These kits help young children develop motor skills and practice basic learning functions to keep their physical and mental development on track.
    • All kits involve basic paper, markers, scissors type needs.
    • This project can accommodate numerous volunteers.
  • Family Haven project:
    • Family Haven provides therapy for children and a safe space for families during a crisis. Your service helps create a safe and soothing space for children and families dealing with traumatic situations in their homes.
    • Help painting, light landscaping, furnishing, sandbox work, etc.
    • 20-40 volunteers needed
  • University Parkway Trail landscaping:
    • Sprucing up the bike and pedestrian trail along University Parkway near the southeast Orem/Provo boundary.
    • 1650 S Carterville Road
    • 50 volunteers needed
  • Senior home yard work: 
    • Assisting a deserving citizen to clean up their yard. Laying sod, planting for disabled senior and Veteran son
    • Location: 350 North 985 West, Orem, Utah
    • 15 volunteers needed
  • Engaging elementary school students at Windsor Elementary:
    • Conducting age-appropriate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) activities with elementary school students.
    • 30 volunteers needed
  • Scera Pool winterization:
    • Assisting the Recreation Department to disassemble and store items at the Scera pool after the season is over.
    • 15 volunteers needed
  • Kids on the Move:
    • Kids on the Move provides childcare services to low-income families. Services include care and therapy for families with autistic children, preschool, prenatal education, and support, early childhood development support, and respite care.
    • Location: 475 Hospital Dr, Orem, Utah
    • 40 volunteers needed
