BOO is Dead, but don’t Boo Hoo

The Book of Orem, aka BOO, was an advanced employee directory that was the first project in an entirely new style of building internal software applications and programs. With the lessons learned from the BOO project, Orem I.T. has gone on to revamp the Recreation registration program, the Boards and Commissions program, the HR Portal system, the time card system, the Peer-2-Peer program, the jobs board, and many others.

According to the Father of Boo and first-rate duelist, David Ulbrich: “BOO has ushered in a new era of technology for the City of Orem. Portal is the child of BOO and is the new gold standard for employee directories. BOO will live on in Portal.”

Jake Gould was slightly misty-eyed when he heard of BOO’s passing and wrote this beautiful eulogy:

But alas, now that we are all here, let’s take a moment of remembrance to honor boo.orem.org. It served me well, looking up everyone that called so when I had to meet them in person I had some idea I was with the correct individual.

All of the things you loved about BOO can be seen in the directory section of portal.orem.org.
