If you are in an accident, always remember:
Reminder: Always be courteous to others.
- Stop at Once – Leave vehicles in place until Police or Fire Department employees direct otherwise.
- Ensure Safety – Set out warning devices if they are available.
- Call for Assistance – For Police and medical assistance call 911.
- Remain at the Scene – Do not leave the scene of the incident until Police arrive and you are told you may leave.
- Do Not Admit Fault – Do not discuss the incident with anyone except the Police, your supervisor, or the City Risk Manager.
- Cooperate with Police – The Police will have a “Driver Information Form” for all vehicle operators to fill out.

- Contact Your Supervisor – All incidents should be reported by an employee to their supervisor within 24 hours. Failure to report an incident may result in disciplinary action up-to and including involuntary termination…
- Complete all appropriate city incident-forms – Submit them to the Risk Manager within one business day of the accident. If you are injured in the incident, you should also complete a report found on claim.orem.org, and the Workers’ Compensation policies and procedures should be followed.
- All non-drivable city vehicles damaged in the incident shall be towed to Fleet located at: 1450 W 550 N Orem.
- Accidents that involved city vehicles with non-city owned vehicles should be investigated by other police departments or public safety agencies whenever possible, and not the Orem City Police Department.
