We Need a Few Brave & Cast Iron Stomachs

Many cities in the U.S. have a signature set of toppings for their hot dogs. NYC has steamed onions and mustard. Chicago loads it up with all kinds of stuff. Atlanta adds coleslaw. If you’re interested in the peculiarities of regional hot dogs, you can read all about it here.

We were curious what you would include on an Orem-style Hot Dog so we went to the good citizens of Orem on social media to find out and got some wild suggestions. Just a few of the highlights and/or lowlights:

  • Green jello with shredded carrots
  • Pay respect to Orem’s orchard history with an apple relish on top with grilled onions
  • Ranch + Fry sauce
  • Funeral potatoes and fry sauce
  • Green beans, brown gravy, and straw onions
  • Essential Oils

We are looking for a few brave and cast iron stomachs who would be willing to sample a few of these bizarre creations and critique them. The best combination will be officially named an Orem Style Hot Dog.

If you’re willing to participate in this in the name of science and patriotic duty, please email pwolfley@orem.org.
