EveryDay Stronger Series Starts Feb. 13th

EveryDay Stronger Series starts on February 13th!ย  Donโ€™t Miss Out on this Important Training! ย

Because of the importance of the EveryDay Strong Initiative, the City of Orem will partnering with United Way again to offer the EveryDay Stronger Series.ย  The EveryDay Stronger Series gives employees the opportunity to learn more about the Initiativeโ€™s framework and be part of a facilitated discussion with their peers.ย  Each month a different topic will be discussed.ย  Discussion sessions will last about an hour.ย  The next series round will begin on February 13, 2020 and will be held on the second Thursday of the month at 9:00 a.m. in Room 107 at the City Center.ย  A light breakfast is provided.

We just finished our first round of the series and those that participated found it to be very valuable and informative.ย  Here are some of the things the participants said about the opportunity –

โ€œFantastic training that gives us tools to interact and connect with children, teens, and adults with understanding and compassion.โ€ โ€“ Rita Christensen, Orem Library Childrenโ€™s Department Manager

โ€œThis program can positively impact every part of your life. Whether you want to be a better parent, friend, spouse, co-worker, or supervisor, you will learn skills to create environments where both you and others can thrive.โ€ โ€“ Steven Downs, Deputy City Manager

โ€œThe EveryDay Stronger program gave me good insight into how to be aware and supportive of those who are struggling with low self-worth and depression. I enjoyed the open discussions we had as a group in the program and was able to see depression from various viewpoints.โ€ โ€“ Kathi Beckett, Economic Development Division Manager

Discussion topics will include:

  • Topic 1: Trusting that kids are doing their best
  • Topic 2: Feeling safe as a foundation for resilience
  • Topic 3: Connecting (Even when it’s hard!)
  • Topic 4: What builds confidence and what doesn’t

We would love to have about 10-12 employees participate.ย  Please reach out to Kena at (801) 229-7023 or kjmathews@orem.org if you would like to participate or have any questions. ย Thank you!
