Characters from Orem History: Abraham Lincoln Brian Jenkins

On a scale of 1 to 100, I give the resemblance a fourscore and seven.

There’s a famous poem titledΒ Abraham Lincoln Walks at MidnightΒ and it talks about the spirit of our greatest president haunting his old stomping grounds in Springfield, Illinois. If you see a shadowy figure that looks like Abraham Lincoln late at night in Orem, chances are it is not his ghost, but a convincing doppelganger named Brian Jenkins.

Orem resident Brian Jenkins is almost exactly the same height and weight as the 16th president of the United States and the resemblance between the two men is striking.

The Daily Herald did a profile on him back when he was running for Senate to fill the seat formerly held by Orrin Hatch. The article includes some great pictures as well.

Jenkins has also been instrumental in local efforts to celebrate the life and legacy of ole Honest Abe. He helped organize a birthday party where Lincoln’s favorite food and drinks were served and his favorite songs and jokes performed.
